Programs for your community, your workplace, your classroom and your life

You can combine one or more programs, or we can design a visit to your community that includes working with you, your organization, your community and your schools.

For Communities: Performances, Workshops and Retreats

Think of these programs as “treats” for your community! ( Thus the ice cream metaphor.)

1) Celebrate your Sense of Place: One scoop
A customized sense of place concert/lecture: Family or adult program
OR An introductory workshop: Teen thru adult

Come just to listen and learn, or to engage and share your experiences. Uncover what sense of place means to you. I will help you start to create a song, story poem about your special place. Typically added as part of a performance, this workshop interlude is added when people are interested in a participatory component that is geared towards families.

1a) One scoop with sprinkles:
A performance with a workshop interlude: For all ages.
Includes a worksheet and interactive, participatory program to generate ‘sense of place’ songs, stories and ideas.


2) Discover your Sense of Place: The Double scoop
A Sense of Place performance: All ages or for adults
PLUS an introductory Workshop: 60 to 90 minutes.

For all levels of experience and all kinds of writers.  Typically added before or after a performance or as an addition to a field trip. Especially for those curious about finding their sense of place stories.

Introduces you the Soulful Landscape process. Includes short lecture on ‘place-based arts,’ participatory writing prompts and sharing. Generates ideas for further development. Discover what ‘sense of place’ means to you.


3) Enrich your Sense of Place: The Sunday
A performance
PLUS an in-depth workshop  Half -day format

Overview of my 5-step signature system. Includes introduction to ‘place-based arts’ and time and practices to discover and create your stories of place and belonging.
Leave with a ‘touchstone’ story, a new or renewed ‘sense of place’ and community, and skills, tools and support for further exploration.

4) Develop your Sense of Place : The Banana Split
Full-day to multiple-day workshop or training

Dive deeper into what a place really means to you. This program takes you through my five-step signature system.  In part one you'll uncover your own stories of place and belonging. In part two you'll apply those skill to develop the story you want to tell. For all levels of experience, writers and non-writers alike. Provides tools to inspire yourself and others. Additional time for generating ideas and for supportive feedback.

1) A keynote performance In the shelter of the council tree
An engaging and educational experience that offers time to gather with peers and colleges to renew, recharge, celebrate successes and get inspired.
A 30 to 60 minute keynote program or A welcoming or closing song, or performance interlude.

2) Trainings for Staff and Volunteers Building strong roots
Gain skills and tools to help you connect people to your place.
60 to 90 minute breakout sessions, half, full and multiple day programs.

Part one helps you enrich and articulate your own sense of place. Part two teaches you how to apply what you have learned to your site. Support is provided to generate and develop new ideas.Participants leave recharged, with new strategies, tools and methods for deeply connecting people to place. Leave with a step-by-step system you can use to keep yourself inspired, and to inspire others. For all levels of experience, writers and non-writers alike.

In Your Classroom: Performances, Lectures and Workshops

As teachers, you are a guides, offering pathways for learning, tools for making choices and skills for how to integrate knowledge and perceptions. (Thus the pathway metaphor!)

1)  A performance/lecture Exploring the path, finding your own 'sense of place'
Inspire students to think about their own stories of place and belonging.
15 to 30 minutes for all ages, 60 minutes teen through adult

2)  A workshop/seminar  Experiencing the path, articulating your own 'sense of place'
Empower students with tools and experiences to craft and express what sense of place means to them.
An introductory ( one class session) to in-depth workshop/seminar half, full or multiple day program
