Professional Development Trainings
Designed for interpreters, educators, conservation organizations and others whose work involves connecting people and place.
This skill-building training will generate innovative ideas, provide new tools to implement, and leave you with a restored capacity to do your work in the world.
"Erica creates a kind of alchemy in the room where even the most timid of us is inspired to find the writer within. She gave us new tools and reminded me of tools I once knew and had long forgotten. She inspired me to get back to an interpretive project I had put aside which I am now working on with renewed enthusiasm and focus."
Julia Clebsch, Interpretive Naturalist, Brooklyn, NY
How can we inspire stewardship and caring in others?
It starts with you. What's your 'sense of place'? What are your stories of place and belonging? Gain skills to express your own stories and help inspire others to do the same.
Begins with a presentation of 'place-based arts' and their role in land conservation and historic preservation to empower your own creative voice. Followed by a series of 'sense of place' writing exercises, skill building tools and experiences. Time for sharing and support for crafting your ideas included as time allows.
Using the skills you gained to tell your own 'sense of place' story, you'll have the tools you need to tell the story of "your site" from a fresh perspective. Group feedback to and individual support will help you develop your ideas. Workbook and other resources provided for continued support.
- Writing prompts and other tools to express your 'sense of place.' (Especially useful for those who think they’re not creative or expressive!)
- Support to create compelling, memorable programs and/or writings that inspire others
- A recharged passion for your work and ways to keep yourself and others inspired, especially during challenging times
- A renewed 'sense of place,’ belonging and community
[Erica's] work with the ‘sense of place’ concept through her Soulful Landscape workshop provides excellent hands-on exercises in an area that is so often perceived as intangible, while her keynote was just the dose of inspiration we needed."
